EDINBURGH WEEKLY CLUB GUIDE - Week Ending 13/2/22

Rescheduled from December, Headset celebrates it's 7th birthday in style with a takeover from some of Bristol's finest in Batu, Yushh, and Cando, alongside Headset chief commander Skillis. A truly special night is in store in such an intimate venue with some of the finest selectors in the UK coming through. Expect heavy dubs, garage, dancehall, and jungle. This is one of our picks for the week!

We return to Sneaky Pete's this Wednesday for the start of a new collaboration with Heaters, and we are kicking things off with none other than TAAHLIAH! One of the most exciting talents in the UK right now, she headlines an exciting bill alongside Irish club experimentalist Sweet Philly and new Edinburgh duo Lucky Dip. This is expected to rattle with electro, ghetto tech, hard house, baltimore, jersey, and all things SweatBox!

UK club kings Dusky take the reins at Sneaky's for an engrossing 4 hour set. Spanning their vast sound and discography ranging between 90's breakbeat and more modern house, Dusky are set to take punters on a dance music journey this Thursday in the intimate surroundings of 73 Cowgate.

249 launch an exciting new venture at Ooh Mami Leith celebrating queer culture for all. Describing themselves as a not-for-profit, ramshackle queer party, 249 are bringing together an eclectic night of music with notable sets incoming from Hiba, DJ Ali & more.

Edinburgh's transiting party starters GRDN are back with a lovedown from their own residents at a secret location in central Edinburgh. After a string of pop up parties and a night at Teviot Underground with Acid Waxa recently, GRDN are establishing themselves as one of the more inventive club series in the capital with another exciting show expected on Friday. Overground kick start their 2022 series with a fundraiser for the Harm Reduction team. One of the most exciting bills of the weekend with a showcase of some of Edinburgh's finest selectors in Feena, Aphid, Franck, Smiff & more. The usual Overground sounds of techno, garage, grime & more will be ripping through the Mash House all night long. This is another of our picks for the week!

Samedia Shebeen's carnival-esque party Disco Makossa is back at the Bongo with a journey into African disco, funk, house, & techno with Jaiva Glasgow & Sub Club regular Butho the Warrior. As always a club extravaganza is anticipated with Disco Makossa and further sounds will be provided in Room 2 by the Reggae Got Soul crew.

Moxie takes on Sneaky's once more for a 4 hour set. NTS resident and long time collaborator with acts like Shanti Celeste, Peach, and Saoirse, Moxie has played all across the globe but holds a very special regard for Sneaky's. Expect a host of house, techno & club sounds throughout the night.

The Messenger Soundsystem hosts a very special night, an ode to all things Bob Marley. Top Wailers selections all night long on one of Scotland's original systems and strictly only music from the blessed brother for his birthday special.

Another opening show of the year, this time for Club Nacht as they welcome Brain Dancing & Kieran Apter to Mash for a CB90 Dance Recordings Showcase. Having released on noteworthy labels like Boys Noize Records and Optimo Trax, Brain Dancing come together with the excellent Kieran Apter following on from a release on the latter's CB90 in December. Electro, Techno & House all night long with room 2 selections to boot from Edinburgh's Ann Tweak, Underground Society, and Handmade.

Sneaky's Sunday edition of Postal is bringing together two of the city's hardest hitters in Franck (Carouse Records, childsplay) and DV60 (Volens Chorus) for a devastating b2b 4 hour session. A strong concoction of techno, electro, hardcore, & more will be served up to close out another epic week of clubbing on Cowgate.
